Nike has unveiled Liverpool's 24/25 home shirt for the next season. This piece of apparel leans into nostalgia, paying homage to the chic pinstripe styles of the early 80s, emphasizing a harmonious blend of the old and new. Giving a nod to Liverpool's tradition of being the early bird in kit reveals, the team yet again paces the path with the launch. Interestingly enough, this highly-anticipated shirt is set to be Nike's swan song with Liverpool, as emerging reports suggest Adidas is suiting up to sail the ship starting the 25/26 season.
This shirt, while at a glance reminds you of the pinstripe design, once inspected up close exhibits a chromatic yellow pattern of the club’s YNWA motto neatly woven into the fabric. Casting one's mind back, the classic collar featuring tactile red and yellow detailing reminisces about the original kit worn by the ’84 squad. This was the same team spearheaded by Joe Fagan, who lifted the treasured European Cup in Rome. The iconic design is mirrored in both the shirt and the shorts, which boast white and yellow side panelling.
Men's captain Virgil van Dijk weighed in on the new design with buoyant enthusiasm: "I’m a big fan of our new kit for next season and love the fact we’re bringing the retro vibe back. We are a club built on history and the 1984 team was one of our most successful ever. I’m sure our fans will appreciate the nod to those club legends."
