We bring to you news that is shaking up the football world: Liverpool is making a triumphant return to Adidas. Their 5-year term with Nike is singing its swan song, with its final curtain call ready to be taken after the forthcoming season. Liverpool's reunion with Adidas is making waves, revisiting an alliance with the famous Three Stripes brand, absent for the last 13 years.

Liverpool walked down the aisle with Nike back in 2020, parting ways with New Balance and donning the formidable Swoosh’s kits for the first-ever in their illustrious history. However, sources have it that their honeymoon is brief, a report from SportingBusiness is whispering news of a pending deal with Adidas, kicking off from the 2025/26 season. Like a boomerang thrown across the noble Anfield, Liverpool find themselves back in the embrace of Adidas.

It's a call back to memories of 1985-96, and again in 2006-2012, when the Reds wore Adidas' emblem with pride. Following a heated tender process, Adidas finds themselves in pole position to produce Liverpool's kits once more. The German megabrand dropped the highest bid, nailing down a deal to run from 2025/26 and continuing through to 2029/30.

Details suggest the prospective Adidas-Liverpool collaboration will be a step up financially from the existing Nike deal, with the investment edging over a cool £50m. However, it falls short of the record £90m per season payday that Manchester United enjoys from Adidas too. Still reeling from the surprising loss of the German national team after an enviable 70-year partnership, Adidas has been on the front foot, on the scout for new alliances. Their 'Adidas club' is impressive thus far, boasting Premier League names such as Manchester United, Arsenal, Fulham, and Nottingham Forest, and they're not done yet.

Adding Coventry City's next season, Aston Villa is poised to immerse itself into the pool. This subsequently places Nike in a position where they'll be left backing Brighton, Chelsea, and Tottenham only, upon Liverpool's exit. The tie that binds Liverpool and Adidas has recently become more robust, owing to Trent Alexander-Arnold's recent transition to the brand. The strategic playmaker who operates from the fullback position has swiftly grown into a recognizable figure for the Predator franchise. His recent feat includes receiving his very own 'Pure Strike' colourway to personalize his style game.

Just a few strides left for Liverpool, with one more year of adorning Nike kits on the cards... Take note. Sign up to our Newsletter to stay up to date.
