Nike and Chelsea have unveiled the club's latest addition to their collection - the 23/24 third shirt. This fresh minty option is sure to make a statement on and off the field. Though Chelsea is last in releasing their shirts, the club seems comfortable with that role this season, as the third shirt arrives after pretty much everyone else's releases.
Similar to the home and away shirts, the third shirt is free of any sponsors, providing a clean and sleek look. The club is still on the lookout for a new front-of-shirt partner, but in the meantime, fans can appreciate the minimalist design, we're not opposed to keeping it that way!
The inspiration behind the shirt comes from two historical kits, worn decades apart. The first source of inspiration known as the 'Eton Blue,' the distinctive hue was initially donned by the team for just two seasons after their establishment back in 1905. This lighter shade of blue originated from the racing colours of the club president and adds a touch of nostalgia to the design.
The second inspiration is the 'jade' hue away kit from the 1986/87 season. The mint green base is complemented by black accents on the collar, cuffs, and side strips, creating a stylish contrast to the overall design. The Swoosh branding and club crest also appear in striking black.
Chelsea supporters can witness the Chelsea 23/24 third shirt in action during the Premier League match against Bournemouth on Sunday. Make sure to mark your calendars for 20 September when this beauty will be on shelves!
