Adidas and Arsenal have teamed up with football giant Ian Wright to unveil a new apparel collection on 01 December 2023, paying homage to one of the club's greatest heroes.
The unique collection boasts a pre-match jersey and a reversible anthem jacket, both imbued with memorable snapshots from Wright's illustrious career with Arsenal. Both men's and women's teams will don the attire during pre-game rituals this weekend.
In the history of Arsenal, few bonds are as precious and impassioned as that between Ian Wright and the club. The former Gunner embodies Arsenal spirit through and through. In celebration of his remarkable journey and in tribute to his 60th birthday last month, Adidas and the North London powerhouse have debuted a collection that's been masterfully co-created with input from Ian Wright himself.
Each distinctive item in the range is adorned with sketches highlighting some of Wright's most unforgettable Arsenal moments. The collection takes a scroll down memory lane, immortalising the vibrancy of his character, significant people in his life, and instances that hold a special place from his career in carefully drawn illustrations.
The collection's color scheme is predominantly black and white, effortlessly elegant and sleek, featuring a long and short-sleeved pre-match jersey, a reversible anthem jacket, and a stylish cross-body shoulder bag. The illustrations form a charming patchwork of squares- an artistic nod to Wright’s vibrant personality and illustrious past. The black and white palette enjoys a splash of opulence from golden accents, taking shape as the club emblem and branding.
On discussing the collection, WrightIan reminisced: “Turning 60 last month made me reflect a lot on what I’ve done so far, my time at Arsenal and the very special people I’ve worked with. So to work with adidas and Arsenal on this range that represents some of my biggest career moments is really special. I hope people feel the love in this collection as much as I do.”
Inigo Turner, the creative director at Adidas, responded, “Ian has had a hugely successful career with Arsenal, with many memories and moments, and so to mark his 60th birthday, we were keen to capture some of those occasions through innovative hand-drawn illustrations. We looked back at many of the moments on and off the pitch, and have created a jersey, jacket and bag which we believe really embodies Ian’s style. The black and white patchwork effect takes inspiration from some of his style choices from the 90s, and the pops of gold represent his Golden Boot award he received in 1992, and his iconic gold tooth."

Beginning tomorrow, 2nd December, all eyes will be on the collection as Arsenal's men's squad sport the jersey during their warm-up and dawn the jacket as they debut against the Wolverhampton Wanderers on their home turf in the Premier League. The inaugural wear for Arsenal Women is scheduled for their forthcoming WSL match against Chelsea, also at the Emirates Stadium, on Sunday 10 December. Both teams will continue to showcase the range throughout the season.
